Walks and nature
on Arran.
It’s 21:01 on Arran.
Isle of Arran
Glen Rosa and the cold mountain pools.
The granite north of Arran is cut by long glens, and they are the easiest way into the mountains. From the edge of Brodick, a path follows the river up Glen Rosa under Goat Fell to a small, clear pool fed by a waterfall, with the jagged point of Cìr Mhòr ahead. In North Glen Sannox, a path climbs beside the burn to open views of the ridge and the Witch's Step. In the gentler south, burns fall through wooded gorges above Kildonan and Whiting Bay. On the coast path, a mountain leader can walk you right round the island. The pools stay icy all summer, so swim with care.
You are up to date.
That is everything for today. Tomorrow's first posts go up in the morning. Or have the best of it in your inbox each morning in the Daily.
