You may already have seen more of Fife than you realise. Its cobbled streets, old harbours, castles and wide beaches have appeared in much-loved films and television series, standing in for everywhere from eighteenth-century Scotland to the docks of France and the seaside of southern England. They look every bit as good in real life. Walk the steep lanes where period dramas were filmed, stand on the sand where runners raced in a famous opening scene, and see the harbour and the castle that played their parts on screen. Several are close enough together to see in a single day.
