Gin and whisky under the crags.

Edinburgh makes its own spirits again. There's a distillery on the edge of Holyrood Park, making whisky and gin under the cliffs of Salisbury Crags, and a gin distillery in the old railway arches near Waverley. Both run tours and tastings, from a quick introduction to longer sessions where you make a gin of your own. They're an easy stop between sights in the Old Town, and a good one when it rains. Book ahead at weekends.
