Argyll and Bute

Stevenson lights on the islands.

The islands and sounds of Argyll are full of lighthouses, many built by the Stevenson family. There's the only square lighthouse in Scotland at Kilnaughton Bay on Islay, and Islay's oldest light on an island off the Rhinns. Off Lismore, a tower of 1833 marks the way to Oban, and near Tobermory a lighthouse stands at Stranger's Point. Some can be walked to, others only seen from the ferry. Watch for seals.
