Three brothers from Edinburgh have set a new world record for rowing non-stop and unsupported across the Pacific Ocean.

Jamie, Ewan and Lachlan Maclean completed the 9,000-mile journey from Peru to Australia in 139 days, five hours and 52 minutes, beating the previous record of 162 days.

They endured violent storms, one of which swept Lachlan overboard before he was pulled back to safety. The brothers rowed in memory of their sister and raised more than £700,000 for clean water projects in Madagascar. They were reunited with family in Cairns and celebrated with bagpipes, flares, pizza and rest.
