Scotland hosted its first World Female Heavy Events Championship at the Glenurquhart Highland Games in Drumnadrochit by Loch Ness. Eight women competed in traditional tests of strength, including the Scots hammer throw, shot put, and caber toss.
The championship was held as part of Saturday’s games and aimed to promote female participation in Highland Games events.
It brought women into a competition long dominated by male athletes.
The domed brick drum on the north bank of the Clyde, opposite the Radisson RED at the SEC campus, is to open again in May 2027 as The Rotunda and Roundhouse.
