A well-known Highland inn in the remote village of Glenuig has been taken over by locals in a new community ownership deal. Facing the risk of closure, the Glenuig Inn, long known for its warm hospitality, seafood suppers, and live music, has been leased by a newly formed Community Benefit Society made up of local residents.

The group has received £353,000 from the Scottish Land Fund to support the purchase of the property, with further fundraising efforts underway to complete the sale. The inn, which first opened in 1746, is now being run with a focus on sustainability and low-impact tourism. Wood-pellet heating, solar energy, and an on-site biodigester are already in place.
