Buildings in Dingwall will be illuminated in January to launch celebrations marking 800 years since the town became a royal burgh. Archive photographs will be projected onto the town hall, while residents and businesses are being encouraged to create window displays as part of a new Bright Burgh Trail. The launch event takes place on 17 January, with projections and lighting running through the evening. The year-long programme will also include music festivals, Viking-themed events and community gatherings, celebrating Dingwall’s history from its Norse roots to its royal burgh status.
