A new £230,000 conservation fund has opened to help halt the decline of wild salmon and sea trout in Scottish rivers. The fund, managed by Salmon Scotland, will support river catchment organisations across Scotland in restoring habitats, protecting spawning grounds and improving survival rates for wild fish.

This funding forms part of a five-year, £1.5 million commitment from Scotland’s salmon farming sector. Projects previously supported include dam repairs in the Western Isles, riverbank stabilisation, creating cover for young fish and long-term genetic and population monitoring.
