Twelve-year-old Fergus Maclean from Fort Augustus became the first known shinty player to take a caman, the shinty stick, to Everest Base Camp, completing the 5,364m trek with his mother.

Fergus, a goalkeeper for Glengarry U14s and U17s, trained briefly with his stick at the camp while raising money for Dementia UK, the Telford Centre Care Home, and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
