On 20 October 2025 a magnitude 3.3 earthquake occurred near Loch Lyon in Perth and Kinross, at a depth of 3km. Residents described light shaking, rattling doors and a low rumble, with reports from areas such as Callander, Tyndrum and Grandtully. The tremor was followed by further minor shocks within the region. According to the British Geological Survey, the event was felt across a wide area but caused no damage. Seismologists say the UK has 200 to 300 earthquakes a year, though only around 20 to 30 are felt.
