Historic Environment Scotland's Living History programme brings Scotland's past to life from 11–19 October 2025, with select events continuing until 26 October at Edinburgh Castle and 24 October at Urquhart Castle.

Visitors can engage with costumed performers portraying knights, courtiers, musicians, and craftspeople across 15 iconic sites, including Dumbarton, Caerlaverock, and Aberdour Castles.

Highlights include learning about Renaissance embroidery, medieval archery, and the lives of early Black Britons. The programme is for families, with storytelling, music and hands-on demonstrations.
