Scotland has designated its first four Nature30 sites, marking a major step toward protecting 30% of its land and seas by 2030. These sites include important habitats such as ancient woodlands, peatlands, and coastal areas, each selected for their biodiversity and ecological significance.

The initiative aims to strengthen conservation, support wildlife, and contribute to climate resilience. NatureScot emphasises working with local communities and landowners on how the sites are managed.

The four are Knapdale in Argyll, Loch Wood in Lanark, Loch Arkaig Pine Forest in Lochaber and Findhorn Hinterland in Moray.
