A cannonball and two silver beakers linked to the Jacobite rising have been secured for the Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre.

Once owned by the Ogilvy family, supporters of Bonnie Prince Charlie, the pieces were bought at auction by the National Trust for Scotland using a private donation.

The cannonball, engraved with “Ogilvy Culloden 16th April 1746,” fetched £18,900, while the French-made beakers, featuring the Ogilvy coat of arms, sold for £17,640. After display in Montrose, the artefacts will move to Culloden in 2026.
