The na Dorsan monument in South Galson, Isle of Lewis, has been named a finalist for the PSSA Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture. Designed by artists Will Maclean and Marian Leven, the work commemorates the families forcibly cleared from the area in 1863 and their return in 1924. Na Dorsan is Gaelic for “the doors”, and its doorway motif reflects homes, welcome and community resilience. Commissioned by the Galson Estate Trust, na Dorsan joins four other UK sculptures on the shortlist.
