Ayrshire island named one of the UK's best places to visit

The Isle of Arran in Ayrshire has been recognised by Lonely Planet as one of the UK’s top destinations. Often called "Scotland in miniature," the island combines rugged mountains with rolling fields and colourful summer flowerbeds. Dolphins and porpoises are sometimes seen along the coast. Key events include the Arran Farmers’ Show and Brodick Highland Games, both held in August. Its clear seawater is good for swimming.
The domed brick drum on the north bank of the Clyde, opposite the Radisson RED at the SEC campus, is to open again in May 2027 as The Rotunda and Roundhouse.
