Two Munros are called Sgurr nan Coireachan.
This is the Glen Dessary one, in the deer forest beyond the head of Loch Arkaig, and not the hill of the same name above Glen Finnan, about five miles to the south.
Glen Dessary Estate's map of its deer forest names three hills: Sgurr nan Coireachan, Garbh Chioch Mhor about two and a half kilometres to the west, and Sgurr na Ciche a little beyond that. Sgurr Mor is the neighbour on the other side, about four kilometres to the north-east.
The estate describes its 15,000 acres as a wilderness of mountains, rivers and lochs.
A weather model's forecast for the height of the summit, not a report from the hill. Read the mountain forecast the evening before: Northwest Highlands forecast, West Highlands forecast, Met Office Northwest Highlands mountain forecast, Sgurr nan Coireachan, Glen Dessary, Scottish Avalanche Information Service.
Choose the day you mean to climb.Near or far: the light you will have, and what the summit is likely to be doing.

If the removable sign on the gate is displayed, stalking parties are actively working in Glen Dessary and Glen Pean areas on that day.Glen Dessary Estate, in its sheet for hill walkers, dated June 2009
Under snow and ice this is a different day, with short light and the risk of avalanche. It needs an ice axe, crampons, winter boots and the skill to use them.
The summit is optional. Turning back is the right decision whenever the cloud, the wind or the light say so.
