At One with the Mountains - An interview with Nick Gardner

A Munro of 1,050 metres, number 80 of the 282.
This Geal Charn stands south of Loch Laggan on Ardverikie Estate.
Three other Munros share the name, in the Ben Alder range, the Monadhliath and at Drumochter.
It is the middle in height of the estate's three Munros. Creag Pitridh is under two kilometres to the west and Beinn a' Chlachair about four and a half to the south-west, and Mountaineering Scotland describes the three as surrounding Loch a' Bhealaich Leamhain.
The avalanche service counts it among the outlying mountains of its Creag Meagaidh area, on the eastern side.

A weather model's forecast for the height of the summit, not a report from the hill. Read the mountain forecast the evening before: Cairngorms National Park and Monadhliath forecast, West Highlands forecast, Geal Charn, Ardverikie, Creag Meagaidh avalanche forecast.
Choose the day you mean to climb.Near or far: the light you will have, and what the summit is likely to be doing.
Under snow and ice this is a different day, with short light and the risk of avalanche. It needs an ice axe, crampons, winter boots and the skill to use them.
The summit is optional. Turning back is the right decision whenever the cloud, the wind or the light say so.
