Victoria Park

Add to List

Introduction

Found to the west of the city centre, Victoria Park was opened in 1871 and named after the monarch of the day, Queen Victoria. It was Aberdeen’s first public park. Prior to this, the area was a farm field and known as Glennie’s Park. The park’s stand-out feature across its five hectares is a spectacular fountain in the centre. Made from an incredible 14 different types of granite from local quarries, the fountain was presented to the city as a gift from the Granite Polishers and Master Builders of Aberdeen. Throughout Victoria Park, you’ll find beautiful flowers, plants, trees and shrubs, including a Sensory Garden.
