Strichen Antiques
Two stores of the weird and wonderful in a Buchan village: curios, jewellery, salvage and taxidermy.
Strichen Antiques calls itself the home of the weird and wonderful, and the stock bears that out.
There is vintage jewellery and collectable toys, obscure paintings and grand pieces of furniture, garden ornaments, building salvage and a fair amount of historical taxidermy, all of it changing from week to week.
The business is family run and spreads across two stores in Strichen, five minutes apart, with more than 10,000 square feet between them, so a visit tends to last longer than planned. The shop is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, and one-to-one appointments can be booked by phone.
Everything in store is also for sale online, with delivery across the UK, which helps with the dresser that will not fit in the car. They buy as well, if there is something interesting in the loft. Strichen is the start of the walk up Mormond Hill to the White Horse, and the two fill an afternoon well.

Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
