The Storehouse
A café, bar and local produce shop by the harbour at John o' Groats, with sea views to Orkney, open all year.
At the end of the road, beside the harbour and a few steps from the famous signpost, the Storehouse is where people who have travelled the length of Britain sit down for a coffee.
It is a café, a licensed bar and a shop in one, in a bright modern building looking out over the harbour.
The café keeps things simple and good: soup, sandwiches and paninis, hot snacks and cakes, made with local produce wherever it can be, and a seafood platter for something more. From the tables there is a fine view across the Pentland Firth to Orkney, and on a fine day you can sit outside.
The shop is stocked like a small co-operative, with fresh bread, local cheeses, drinks and ready-to-eat food, handy if you are staying in the lodges nearby or heading out along the coast. It is open all year.
