Argyllshire Gathering Oban Games

Formed in 1871 to bring the scattered families of Argyll together, the Argyllshire Gathering now takes over a single Thursday in late August. Mossfield Stadium opens at 9.30am and the field runs until half four. Solo piping competitions share the ground with the 56lb weight over the bar, the Hill Race, a 2.25 mile climb with 500 feet of ascent, and fun races open to anyone who fancies it. Oban High School Pipe Band plays through lunch. Adult tickets are £16, children £8. Parking is for Blue Badge holders only, so walk up from Station Square, ideally behind the pipers who march at 10.30am.
