Lewis Sports Centre – a Kiddies' Pool and Fun Sessions
A few hours.
The route
On a wet day in Stornoway, the pool at the Isle of Lewis Sports Centre is the place for young children.
Beside the big pool there's a shallow kiddies' pool for the smallest swimmers, and on Saturdays and in the school holidays there are fun sessions with a big slide, toys and floats.

Isle of Lewis Sports Centre
The Isle of Lewis Sports Centre, Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais, is on Springfield Road in Stornoway. Its 25-metre pool has a moveable floor, and beside it there's a kiddies' pool just 30cm deep for the smallest swimmers. On Saturdays and in the school holidays there are fun sessions with a big slide, toys and floats, each about 45 minutes long. Open swims run on weekdays too, and the kiddies' pool stays open in the lane-swimming sessions. The centre opens Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7.15am to 9.45pm, Wednesday from 8am to 9.45pm and Saturday from 8am to 7.45pm, and it's shut on Sundays and on Friday 9 October, a public holiday. The pool timetable changes from week to week, and the council posts each week's on its Sport and Health pages; the centre's number is 01851 822800. Children under eight must have an adult with them in the water. Over Christmas and New Year, check before going.
If it rains
It's all indoors.
