Kenmore and Loch Tay – a Beach, an Old Inn and Lunch
A few hours.
The route
Kenmore is a tidy white-harled village at the very end of Loch Tay, where the River Tay slips out of the loch under a seven-arched bridge of 1774.
Start with a wander on the little beach at the water's edge, then stroll through the village to lunch at the Courtyard at Mains of Taymouth, by its fire or out on the terrace. Dogs are welcome too.

Book the Courtyard Brasserie & Bar
Book a table at the Courtyard Bar and Brasserie on 01887 830886 or online for about 12.30, and say if a dog is coming, as dog space in the bar is limited: it serves lunch every day, and booking is essential at weekends.
The day
Kenmore
A gentle afternoon at the end of Loch Tay. A wander on the beach, a stroll through a pretty estate village, and a long lunch by the fire.

Kenmore
An attraction
Park at the Kenmore Beach car park on the south side of the village, beside the shore where the loch ends; check the signs there for any charge. Wander along the water's edge, then walk up through the village square, where the Kenmore Hotel claims to be Scotland's oldest inn and carries the date 1572, and Robert Burns wrote a poem on its wall in 1787. The seven-arched Kenmore Bridge of 1774 crosses the Tay where it leaves the loch.

Lunch
Lunch is at the Courtyard Brasserie and Bar at Mains of Taymouth, about 10 minutes' walk from the car park. It serves lunch every day, with couches by a cosy fire and a big outdoor terrace. Children are welcome, and well-behaved dogs are allowed in the bar and outside; space for dogs in the bar is limited, so book if you bring one, and book at weekends either way. It's the same 10 minutes' walk back to the car.
If it rains
On a wet day skip the beach and go straight to the Courtyard, where the couches by the fire are made for it.
