Lerwick Brewery – a Tour and a Tasting Flight
A few hours.
The route
Lerwick Brewery calls itself the UK's most northerly brewery, a 12-barrel craft brewery on the edge of Shetland's capital, brewing since 2012.
A guide walks you through how its ales and lagers are made, and the tour ends in the green-walled taproom with a tasting flight of the beers. It's a relaxed hour or two for beer lovers on a wild day, with a shop full of cans to take home.
Before you go
Book Lerwick Brewery
Book a Lerwick Brewery tour with the brewery before you go, for 11am or 2pm on a Monday to Saturday: £20 a head at the time of writing, an hour or two with a tasting flight in the taproom.

Round the mash tuns and fermenters with a brewer's guide, then a flight of tasters at the taproom's bar.

Lerwick Brewery
An attraction
Lerwick Brewery stands at Staneyhill, off the North Road on the north side of Lerwick, about two miles from the town centre. Tours run all year, Monday to Saturday at 11am and 2pm, and cost £20 a head at the time of writing: contact the brewery ahead to book a place. A guide takes you through the brewery, from the malt and hops to the finished beer, and you finish in the taproom with a tasting flight, so allow an hour or two. The building and its toilets are fully accessible. With a tasting at the end, let someone else drive, take a taxi out from the town, or skip the tasters and buy cans in the shop for later. The shop on its own opens Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
If it rains
The tour, the taproom and the shop are all indoors.
