Uig, Lewis – a Seatrek Boat Trip Among the Islands and Stacks
A few hours.
The route
Seatrek has been taking people out among the islands, arches and sea stacks of the Uig coast on the far west of Lewis for almost 40 years.
Its cabin cruiser leaves from Miavaig Pier on Loch Roag, with seats inside and out, a toilet aboard and a crew who know every skerry, or rocky islet. It suits all ages, and Uig's sands are a short drive away for a picnic after.

Seatrek
Seatrek's trips leave from Miavaig Pier on Loch Roag in Uig. Follow the Seatrek signs to the pier, go past the fish farm building, where there's no parking, and the Seatrek car park is on the right; arrive 20 minutes before you sail. Every trip is now on its cabin cruiser, with seats inside and out and a toilet aboard. The regular trips run from April to September among the islands and sea stacks of the Uig coast. Minke whales, dolphins and sea eagles are among the wildlife seen, though none can be promised. Trips, times and prices are on its booking page, and you pay when you book. There's no phone line, so ask by email or on Facebook if a date isn't listed. All ages are welcome, but no pets at all. In poor weather the route can change or the trip be called off and refunded in full. The crew let you know the day before, so check your phone, or get in touch if you have no signal. Wear warm, waterproof clothes. For lunch on a Thursday or Friday, Uig Sands Restaurant, a short drive west above the bay, serves a fixed-price seafood lunch from noon to 2pm, booked on 01851 672334; on other days, take a picnic to the sands.
If it rains
The cabin cruiser has seats indoors and a toilet, but poor weather can change the route or call the trip off, refunded in full.
