A film at the Highland Cinema and a pizza in its restaurant
Fort William

The Highland Cinema – a Pizza by the Stove and a Film

A few hours, from Fort William station and back.

The route

Fort William's community cinema, built of red stone from Glen Nevis and slate from Ballachulish to look like a Highland bothy (a mountain hut), stands on Cameron Square under a red corrugated roof.

Inside are two screens showing everything from new releases to classics and live opera, and a cosy restaurant with a wood-burning stove and its own pizza oven. It's an easy way to spend a wet evening.

Before you go

  1. Book accommodation nearby

If you are staying over: here are ours nearest where the day starts and ends.

The nearest of ours is Woodlands Glencoe, 10 miles away. Sleeps 2.

  2. Book seats at the Highland Cinema and a table in the Highland Cinema Restaurant & Bar

Book your film seats online with the Highland Cinema, and a restaurant table for about an hour before the film on its website or on 01397 609696: seats are allocated, films run from 10.30am every day, the restaurant's last food orders are at 8pm, and a same-day ticket gives 10% off food.

Then it's through to the cinema itself, in the same building. Book your film online first: seats are allocated, films run from 10.30am every day, and the prices include a £1.50 booking fee a ticket. Children under 12 must come with an adult. The whole building is step-free, with wheelchair spaces in both screens. It's 7 minutes' walk back to the station.

If it rains

All of it is under a roof: only the 7-minute walk from the station is out in the rain.
