Magic on Main Street Trail
The Riverside Museum's cobbled Victorian street has gone magical for the rest of the year.
For one evening at the end of October, Shetland Museum and Archives at Hay's Dock in Lerwick keeps its doors open after dark and turns to the stranger side of the islands. The archive brings out records it seldom shows, from witch trial papers to folk tales, and the staff lead short tours of the lower gallery on old beliefs and mysteries. A short, spooky staging of the folk tale The Crooked Finger plays twice, and the archivists give a half-hour talk with old recordings of a storyteller from South Yell and a Scalloway photographer and astronomer. The café serves light refreshments. It's on Thursday 29 October from 6.30pm to 9pm, booked through the Shetland Amenity Trust box office.
