Radiocarbon seminar with Professor Seren Griffiths

30October

If the Ness of Brodgar has caught your imagination, this is a chance to hear how archaeologists work out when things happened there. The dig team has a new set of radiocarbon dates for the Neolithic site, and Professor Seren Griffiths of Manchester Metropolitan University is in Orkney this week to talk them through. Her seminar for the UHI Archaeology Institute explains the science behind radiocarbon dating and how it is used to build a picture of people's lives in the past. It starts at 4pm on Friday 30 October in the UHI Orkney lecture theatre in Kirkwall. It is free, and you can also join online by registering through the Ness of Brodgar Project's website.
