Orkney Folk Festival 2027

Stromness is a stone town of one long street and narrow closes running down to the harbour, and for four days at the end of May, music fills every hall, church and bar in it. The Orkney Folk Festival brings together players from Orkney, Shetland, Ireland and Scandinavia, and some of the best moments come in the sessions that start up on their own once the concerts finish.

The 2027 festival runs from 27 to 30 May. The ferry from Scrabster takes ninety minutes, the evenings stay light until late at that time of year, and the whole town is an easy ten-minute walk from end to end.
