Ross and Cromarty
Muir of Ord to the Dornoch Firth.
Whisky has been made in Ross and Cromarty for well over two centuries, and its distilleries stand among the farmland of the east. At Muir of Ord, on the western edge of the Black Isle, tours lead into warehouses where oak casks lie stacked in the half-dark, and there's a bar and deli afterwards. On the Dornoch Firth, a distillery of warm pink-grey stone at Edderton has been working since 1790. Just outside Tain, the stills stand over twenty-six feet tall, their shape copied from old London gin stills. Book tours ahead, and bring a driver if you want a dram.
You are up to date.
That is everything for today. Tomorrow's first posts go up in the morning. Or have the best of it in your inbox each morning in the Daily.
