Perthshire's nature is on a grand scale. There are wooded gorges with waterfalls by Dunkeld and Aberfeldy, where Robert Burns found inspiration, long lochs held between the hills, and a famous viewpoint over Loch Tummel. Forest trails climb above Loch Rannoch, and riverside walks follow the Earn and the Tay. Come in autumn, when the trees turn every shade of gold and red, and bring a flask for the viewpoints.

Birks of Aberfeldy.

“Now Simmer blinks on flowery braes,/ And o'er the chrystal streamlets plays;/ Come let us spend the lightsome days/ In the birks of Aberfeldy.” So wrote Robert Burns, in his poem of the same name, and the birks (or birch trees) can still be visited on a winding circular walk through mature woodland.
