A cathedral and an abbey.

Two great medieval churches stand in and near Glasgow. The cathedral, rebuilt from 1181 over the tomb of St Mungo, came through the Reformation with its roof on, and its crypt is a forest of pillars. In the middle of Paisley, the abbey founded around 1163 is known as the cradle of the Royal House of Stewart. Both are free to visit and full of stories.
