Aberdeenshire's art is worth seeking out. In Aberdeen, a marble-lined gallery on Schoolhill holds seven hundred years of art and is free to visit, with Scottish painters hung beside the old masters. Out on Deeside, a restored steading near Banchory shows contemporary Scottish painting, ceramics, glass and jewellery, much of it for sale. Pair one with lunch nearby, and look out for the street art that covers walls across the city centre.
