From Wednesday the 22nd of October to Saturday the 1st of November 2025, the Scottish International Storytelling Festival celebrates live oral tradition under the theme “Lights of the North.” The programme spans Edinburgh venues and local events across Scotland, bringing together established and emerging storytellers presenting narratives that blend folklore, community and new creative forms. Offerings include emotive performances, family storytelling, interactive workshops and outdoor events. A highlight is the Andy Hunter Storytelling Bursary initiative, supporting projects rooted in environmental connection and heritage, showcased through the Go Local strand. The festival emphasises accessibility, cultural diversity and a shared experience of story and place.
