Kinsman-Blake Gallery

A family gallery and studio at Smailholm near Kelso, showing ceramics, paintings, woodwork, screen prints and jewellery made by four members of the Kinsman-Blake family.

Welcome

In the small village of Smailholm, a few miles from Kelso, the Kinsman-Blake Gallery is a family affair.

Four members of the family make the work on show, and between them they cover a remarkable range.

Linda paints and makes ceramics, including the blue and white bowls and jars that line the shelves; Rankin works in wood; Lillias makes illustrations, paintings and screen prints, and has written a children's book; and Robyn is a jeweller.

The gallery holds exhibitions through the year: in the summer of 2025 it was Summer Feast, with new paintings by Linda and a signing of Lillias's book, If a Monkey Ate Nothing but Bananas. It opens every day from late March to the end of December, with visits by appointment in the winter months.
