Shetland Islands

Burrastow House

Welcome

Burrastow stands on its own at the end of a single track beyond Walls, a laird's house of 1759 looking across the water to Vaila.

It is a long way from anywhere and that is the point. The kitchen cooks what Shetland gives it (fish landed that day, lamb from the hill, vegetables from the garden) in a dining room with a fire and not many tables. Booking is essential and the drive out is part of it: the road narrows, the houses stop, and the sea appears on three sides. There are rooms if you would rather not drive back.
