Some of the UK's most celebrated chefs are heading north this November, and you don't need a trip to London to taste their cooking.

The Oban Winter Festival opens on 13 November at 5pm with a parade through the town and the switch-on of the creel tree. The first week brings the Scottish Haggis Festival, where the Golden Haggis Award is decided. After that there are Christmas markets, music and festive events around the town, right through to a finale concert on 20 December. Most of it is free, so you can simply turn up, wrap up warm and enjoy the lights.
