Edinburgh International Book Festival, Edinburgh

The Edinburgh International Book Festival has run since 1983 and now stages more than 600 events across 16 days. The 2026 theme is Changing Your Mind, with a line-up that includes Maggie O'Farrell, Ann Patchett, Ali Smith, Colm Tóibín and this year's International Booker winner Yáng Shuāng-zi. Most of it happens at the Edinburgh Futures Institute on Lauriston Place, with the Front List series filling McEwan Hall at 1pm daily and Greyfriars Kirk joining as a venue for the first time. There are more than 150 events for children and families.
