M A N I F E S T O
Working from her garden studio in South Glasgow, Katie Rose Johnston crafts small batch, sculptural ceramics that are influenced by archaeology, the natural sciences and the raw, windswept landscape of her birthplace, Shetland. Mudlarking for ancient artefacts, foraging and crafting from nature start as material research in her practice, as well as experimentation with form, colour and texture.

Julia Smith Ceramics
Julia draws inspiration from the natural environment where she lives and makes all of her ceramics inhouse in her studio overlooking the Moray Firth near Inverness. The glaze colours are reminiscent of seascapes with light reflected on the water or mist rolling in. Drawings of mountains, forests, animals and trees often feature in Julia’s work.

foxed
Beautiful hand-built ceramics, made from stoneware and locally gathered, indigenous ‘wild clay’ are all processed in Louise Blamire’s studio. From the mountain or the forest, the ‘wild clay’ is gathered in small amounts and minimally processed. This provides the basis for hand crafting and building individual pieces.

Jay Frazer Ceramics
Edinburgh based ceramicist Jay Frazer produces wheel thrown designs to be enjoyed in the home, and a collection of contemporary ceramic jewellery. With inspiration deriving from Scottish Sea and landscapes, the works are fluid, tactile forms that achieve a balance between natural and contemporary. Artroxinabox
Leonie Cowie is an Aberdeenshire based, self-taught potter who creates hand-built ceramics. She creates characters of interest with her face pot planters, which are inspired by women of different backgrounds and culture. Leonie loves working with all types of clay including local mud, which she harvests and homeprocesses into an earthenware clay. Each piece is unique and slightly quirky, bearing the marks of her hands, the hands of the maker.
